I enjoyed the book, it even includes coupons for many of the places it talks about. I wish it had maps in it, that would have made it a 5-star. A map around the island, a map of el centro, points of interest, hotels, restaurants, etc.
The book is more of a directory than a guide. The most useful item was a 10% off coupon for a rental car from Isis which saved us $50.
Excellent book ! I am planning a move to Cozumel so I particularly enjoyed the " Dining in Cozumel" section of the book. I plan to take full advantage of many of the dining recommendations.

Owner is claiming it is a "fake" which is strange because it has been 2 years and never a word from him before. I assure you I asked his permission and that is what he offered. Business must be so bad that he can not afford to allow those cupons anymore!!!The book is NOT cheap..what you may have gotten is someone who printed out from the ebook. My paperback is industry standard." response from the Author!This was a response from the Author ( who cannot even spell the word "coupon" ) to my request to have my restaurant removed from her list, the quality of the coupon looked like something someone would print out on cheap copy paper, and very unprofessional. We have been presented with 1 in however many years she claims to have been in business. We have only been in Cozumel 26 years , so guess we are doing something right. Be like me , go to a place for the food! My staff refused it, as it looked just like something anyone can print on their home computer and then they called me and I offered the clients a 10% disocunt anyway, so their experiance would feel good and they , at least said they would recoup the price they paid. They said we were not the first restaurant that refused it. These should be on a high quality coupon material, numbered and professional looking.Don't waste your money on this, just bring cash and just about every single restaurant in Mexico will give you a 10% discount( the cost of processing credit cards here)

First off, there are some very good insights into why narcs do what they do. However, she continuously makes the erroneous assumption that they don't *realize* what they are doing. Not true. They know exactly what they are doing. It's intentional. Read "In Sheep's Clothing" by George Simon Jr to get a much more accurate understanding of what is happening behind the mask.Also, in the chapter about the aging narc, she doesn't emphasize the most important consideration. Going "no contact" should be very seriously considered by all of us ACONs (Adult Children of Narcissists), rather than allowing the guilt and manipulation to convince us to stick around and be abused. She suggests lying to ourselves and calling criticism "help" to make ourselves feel better about being abused. ???? No. Go "No Contact" as soon as you possibly can. For yourself, for your children, for society in general.Finally, having been raised by two people who consider me to have no value beyond what they can get out of me, I strongly disagree with her views on self-esteem. She doesn't have the experience or understanding to "get" that a child of a narc (or 2 narcs) NEEDS to learn to value themselves regardless of our successes and performance. She believes that if a person succeeds in things, they will develop self-esteem. No. I have succeeded in many things over the years, with flying colors. I feel capable in those areas, but in no way did my self-esteem increase. My sense of value is only now increasing by basing my worth and value on the fact that I am a human being, lovingly created by God. I am not values for what I give and do, but for just being me. If you are a narc survivor, don't buy into the nonsense that doing more and doing it better will give you value or self-esteem. You are valuable just the way you are.
This book has been instrumental in helping me heal through the trauma and pain from "co-parenting" with a Narcissist. I've felt so helpless the last five years, and after reading this book, I've gained an entirely new perspective on how Narcissists' brains work, why they act the way they do, and how I can cope with our volatile, forced relationship. This book is perfect for those who are forced to have relationships with Narcissists, such as a co-parent.
I went through various emotions when reading this book. First, it was a kind of comfort, because it described very accurately traits i feel like I'm encountering more and more the older I get. There's something comforting about having a name for a phenomenon and also about knowing that I'm not the only one observing it.Second, it was a kind of unease, as I realized I had symptoms of both an enabler as well as of a narcissist (apparently many have at least a few symptoms of narcissism, but actual full-blown "narcissistic personality disorder" is somewhat rare), although there were excellent practical suggestions as to how to overcome them （as well as, interestingly, for how to coexist with narcissists).Third, it was a kind of fascination--i was basically shocked at how parenting during the first 36 months of a child's life can affect how emotionally/mentally healthy and capable a person can be at age 30. I now want to study more about early child development. Seriously shocking--even more surprising is how many seemingly healthy kids come out of families not necessarily educated about this development period.Fourth, i was (am) bound by a desperate question: is it possible for someone with strong narcissistic tendencies to recover? I.E.: is there hope!? If not, this may be one of the most depressing books I've read, as an American (where narcissism has been steadily on the rise). I'm desperate to know this answer, and have done research to try to find the authors email address to ask her!One additional note: I deducted one star because, towards the end, the author vaguely draws a link between the decline of the prevalence of monotheistic "traditional" religion in American culture and the rise of narcissism, but does not provide sufficient (or any, really) argument for this link, nor does she provide reasonable cause to believe that a return to such religion would put narcissism on the decline (nor am I persuaded that is even her argument). As a direct result of this passage, her credibility took a big hit in my mind; thank goodness it was towards the end, and thank goodness the rest of it made so much sense. I bought this book because I have always appreciated the beauty of mosaics and I want to install some in my house someday. This book provides a thorough (but not tedious) explanation of the history of, and original purposes for, mosaics. The pictures and explanations provide a good understanding of the art form (although many pictures in black and white may frustrate some readers). However, if you couldn't care less about the history of mosaic art, and you are only interested in making some cute mosaic items to give as gifts or to decorate small surfaces in your home yourself with your own original designs, you may be happier with one of the more basic mosaic design books available on Amazon. If you have an appreciation for art history, however, this book will not disapoint.

All thru Italy I took pictures of the floors, I hope to make them into quilts. This book is an excellent reference, I could have bought it first and looked at the other sites while I was on vacation.
I purchased this book to gain color references for the mosaics.....unfortunately, the majority of this book contains black and white plates. If you are planning on using this book as a reference for color, forget it.
This is an interesting book and a massive synthesis. My only problem is the images. The color pictures are horrible. Cambridge should be ashamed of printing such images. The black and white pictures (the vast majority) are fine BUT they are black and white. The author keeps describing different marbles, color compositions, etc. but the reader cannot see what she describes. Some of the pictures give you no idea what the mosaic really looks like (as I found out after finding such images online). Writing a history of Greek and Roman mosaics using black and white pictures is like writing a history of impressionism with only black and white pictures. The colors are 80% of the image. I am sure this problem is not the author's fault. Getting permission from museums, especially non-European museums, to print images is an ordeal. So this book will be a starting point for anyone interested in finding the pictures online or in other books (less likely). One other thing: the very numerous and very high quality mosaics of Zeugma are not mentioned in this book, since they were discovered too recently. This discovery is of such a dimension that a second edition would need to incorporate it. The same goes for the mosaics of Edessa that are clearly related to the mosaics of Constantinople's palace and the Apamea triclinium.
The new book by Katherine Dunbabin is a welcome addition to the already excellent catalogue of Cambridge Press. Ms. Dunbabin once more proves her value as a historian by showing that the study of Art in ancient times goes beyond aesthetics and the sphere of nobles and palaces. Her work on Section II "Technique and Production" brings to life the craftsmen and workshops that made the mosaics, but also the social relationships involved in the creation of all forms of Art. Another strong point of the book is the quality of the images depicted in it, both the photo reproductions and the graphic drawings of the mosaics are astounding. The variety of subjects shown in the mosaics allow the modern reader to have a pretty good idea of the ambiance and way of life of the times. It is also interesting that at the end of each chapter Ms. Dunbabin indicates a list of related bibliography with recent works. I can only be sorry that her own classical work "The Mosaics of Roman North Africa" is out of print. This pioneer work should be reprinted.

About the Author
Martin Everett is professor of social network analysis and co-director of the Mitchell Centre at the University of Manchester. After studying mathematics as an undergraduate and at masters level, he undertook a doctorate in social network analysis. He has over over 30 years of experience of social networks and has contributed to over 100 publications. He is a co-developer of the network analysis software UCINET Â and is co-editor of the international journal Social Networks. He is a past president of INSNA (The International Network for Social Network Analysis) and a Simmel award holder (the highest award given by INSNA for contributions to research). He has regularly given keynote speeches at international conferences and has consulted to both government agencies and private companies on the use and application of social network analysis.

This book covers all the basic approaches to network analysis. While the Wasserman & Faust text covers the mathematical approaches in depth, Analyzing Social Networks is a more concise work for those who are ready to start playing around with SNA software.I was surprised, though, that there wasn't much in-depth explanation of UCINET, the authors' own network analysis package. I have been trying to get beyond the basics of using UCINET on my own, and it has been difficult. I am not a programmer, so the help files for the software leave a lot to be desired for someone like me. But I think this book, coupled with "Disrupting Dark Networks" (which provides examples using UCINET, Pajek, and ORA), make a great pair of resources for those trying to learn SNA on their own.Edit (7/14/2013)-- The authors kindly pointed out to me that while not in the book, there is a document on the website that explain how to use UCINET."Note that the details on how to do everything in UCINET is contained in an 83 page document which is on the web at sites.google.com/site/analyzingsocialnetworks/Martin, Steve and Jeff"
Pretty nice book from authors are who are leading scholars in social network analysis. I think this book stands out in terms of explaining social network concepts in plainer words compared to some of other social network analysis books out there. Good book to have around if you are interested in social network analysis.

You will need someone who knows UCINET to help you along the read and implementation as the whole lot revolves around UCINET.
