If you’re anything at all like me, then please get yourself checked. Afterwards, you may want to look into this fun book which is exactly what it claims to be: a compendium of TV movies from the 1960’s to 1999. The book first approaches the movies by general genres before offering a long list of, and review of, individual films. Though there were films created in many genres, the thriller (be it horror or mystery or the fantastic) seemed one of the most popular and therefore many of the films listed lean this way. Among the greats, such as Steven Speilberg’s seminal Duel or the stunning Trilogy of Terror get their due along with other (many other) more forgotten works, some of which deserve rediscovery, if only for the “I can’t believe s/he’s in a film like this” cast.Highly recommended even if all you’re looking for is a blast from the nostalgic past.

Edited, and partially written, by the amazing Amanda Reyes, ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE ALONE? is an essential and thorough look at the television films seventies, eighties and nineties. Including chapters and reviews by a long list of accomplished and acclaimed writers, ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE ALONE? is one of the definitive works on this sadly often overlooked chapter in film history. Illustrated with hundreds of rare photos and ads, this book will prove a constant reference point for fans and scholars. ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE ALONE? is an exceptional work that will hopefully lead to the long-overdue release of so many of these films on DVD and Blu-ray.

This is a fun, insightful and, for the most part, enthusiastic compendium of TV Movies (mostly horror and thrillers found here). I've discovered some really wonderful movies through this book and am forever grateful to Amanda Reyes for putting it together. My only issue is that most of the other reviewers in the book do not share Reyes' enthusiasm for the TV-Movie format, and quite a few of the reviews come across as dismissive, and approach the content with a suspicion and a superiority that feels unnecessary and curmudgeonly. The charms of a movie like Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell go unmentioned and instead we're warned of a "tubby script" and a need for patience. Still, this is a great reference book, and with many of the films available to watch on Youtube, it's a wonderful resource for fans of horror movies looking for something a little different and a lot wonderful.

This is a fun, fabulous reference book for anybody who loves TV movies, genre movies, or the '70s and '80s. All of the essays are well researched and insightful, and the blurbs are dense with excellent info (moreso than in most movie encyclopedias). The writers are the best of the best IMO. TV movie history has long been sort of invisible, so this book fills a big void. I loved reading about the movies I've seen, and learning about ones that I haven't.

Made for TV movies have generally received a bad reputation over the years as being cheap and subpar to theatrical films. However as this book helps to prove there are a treasure trove of honestly great classic TV movies to be sought after online and on DVD etc.Edited by Amanda Reyes who is shedding some light on the fact these movies are becoming long forgotten and hopefully fans of TV movies can help spread the word of rediscoving or possibly discovering them again from the very first time.Featuring Amanda's own reviews and reviews from many others this book is the perfect way to compile great lists for TV movie get togethers or possibly a rainy day binge fest! You may end up seeking out movies featuring Harrison Ford as a Biology Teacher that aired in May of 1977! A Wes Craven classic about a satanic Susan Lucci offering the best of the 80's material world for Robert Urich's family. Lynda Carter volunteering on a helpline that leads to suspense! Or a battle of family friendly tv show icons like Melissa Sue Anderson of Little House on the Praire and Mary Beth McDonough of The Waltons in a showdown of high school witchery. You'll discover so many other great films! The book is a must for tv film lovers or even just those finding out about such movies! Seek out Amanda Reyes and her other TV movie loving companions Daniel R Budnick and Nathan Johnson on her Made for TV Movie Podcast for more great TV Movie Discoveries and fun trivia!

AYITHA? is a rare gift for fans of both made-for-TV movies and thoughtful film criticism. It's funny, smart, insightful, well-researched, and more fun than a barrel of Zuni fetish dolls. Kudos to Amanda Reyes and company. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

As a kid of the 80s, I grew up on TV and TV movies. This book has been a fun trip down memory lane not just for TV movies I have seen, but the movies I remember seeing commercials for but wasn't able to see! It's well researched and has some interesting critical thinking about trends and how TV movies fed into fears and dreams of the zeitgeist. Added to that, Death of Ritchie gets a mention? I'm sold.

TV Movies finally get their due through the awesome Made-For-TV-Mayhem hostess, Amanda Reyes! Love her informative blog and FB page, so this book is no exception. I'm nostalgic for the TV movies I remember, and those from the 70's and early 80's that would repeat on late-night TV. There's so many little gems in here.
